The Power of Book Reviews: How to Get Them and Why They Matter

It’s April 28, the day we celebrate National Superhero Day. Of course, superheroes enter into books and literature. We read about them every day (or we could if we wanted to). They come in all shapes and sizes, but they also defy expectations. Not all heroes or even superheroes wear masks or even have superhuman powers. Celebrating our superheroes is still essential, and Superhero Day is a great way to do that. So what is Superhero Day?

What is Superhero Day?

Marvel employees first launched Superhero Day in 1995. I don’t think we need an excuse to celebrate our favorite superheroes, but it’s still fun to set aside a day to honor the best and brightest, even when they’re fictional. And you don’t have to be a kid to have fun wearing flashy costumes, reading stories, and watching shows about superheroes.

Where Do Superheroes Come From?

So many of us experienced comic books from the earliest ages, but there’s more to superheroes than all those epic characters with superpowers and masked faces. Are you looking for heroes? You’ll find them in Roman, Greek, and even Norse mythologies. Of course, we still draw from ancient archetypes with our modern superheroes. But, there are also direct links with superheroes like Thor, Loki, and other mythic figures who are now re-envisioned for our modern imaginations.

Ways to Celebrate Superhero Day

There are lots of ways to celebrate Superhero Day. The easiest way to start is by wearing a cape or putting on the whole superhero costume. That’s not the only way to celebrate your favorite crime fighter or masked hero. Here e more ideas:

  • Write about it. Feature your superhero and demonstrate what being a superhero means.
  • Draw a picture of a superhero. You can even create a whole new character or group of superhero figures.
  • Write about yourself as a superhero. Include which superpower you’d like to have.

As you celebrate Superhero Day, share your stories and your experience. You can use the hashtag #NationalSuperheroDay or #SuperheroDay. Remember, you’re never alone. We all have stories to tell.

They’re always here when you need them. Happy #SuperheroDay! pic.twitter.com/v2g2aFcswt
