Book Club

You may think it’s Oprah’s Book Club, when you see the crazy hubbub everyone is making over Belletrist, the book club just launched by Emma Roberts. She’s got a long list of roles to her credit, including: Wild Child (2008), Hotel for Dogs (2009), Valentine’s Day (2010), It’s Kind of a Funny Story (2010), and The Art of Getting By (2011). Or, you may know her from Lymelife (2009), 4.3.2.1 (2010), Scream 4 (2011), Adult World (2013), We’re the Millers (2013), and Palo Alto (2013). And, of course, she snagged the lead role at Chanel Oberlin on Scream Queens.

Good morning ☀️ I’m so excited to finally share @belletrist with you! You guys know I love to read 📚 I’m constantly posting what I’m reading and wanting to know what you’re reading! So @kpreiss and I thought why not start a #bookclub where we can all read and discuss together in one place? Come read with us @belletrist #belletristbabe 💕 more surprises to come…

So, you know who Emma Roberts is, right. But, what you may not realize is that fans have long followed her book-reading suggestions via Instagram. With the launch of her now-popular book club, Belletrist, you’ll get her own personal take on the books. So, far, it looks like lots of fun!

Good morning #belletristbabes ☀️I’m over the moon to announce #SouthandWest by #JoanDidion as the first #belletristbook ! I’m beside myself to share the exclusive interview she gave to me on our website. Link in bio 💕 @belletrist

A post shared by Emma Roberts (@emmaroberts) on Mar 23, 2017 at 6:42am PDT

Starting off with an interview with Joan Didion is (honestly) the most compelling and memorable way she could have started. Yes, she would have caused more of an uproar with an interview with J.K. Rowling, but Didion is (after all) an iconic author. She’s on all our lists. And, Roberts captured what so many of us think when we explore Didion’s work, when she said, “I was once again overwhelmed by her wisdom, her work ethic, and her commitment to experiencing life.”

In the interview, Didion says: “I write entirely to find out what I’m thinking, what I’m looking at, what I see and what it means. What I want and what I fear.”

We really are reminded of the “endless possibilities that live in the world of books.”

Now, we’ve only to embark on the journey…
